Pierre Valcourt is the identity of a contemporary neo-expressionist studio project presented by Studio 54 Fine Art.
A visual biography
Pierre Valcourt’s neo-expressionist universe unfolds between the raw energy of Marseille, the layered streets of Paris, and the restless spirit of 1980s New York. Drawing on Art Brut, urban graffiti, and the visual tension of torn street posters, his work brings electric palettes into collision with jostling figures, crowns, halos, skeletons, and fragmented words.
Built around accumulation and erasure, Valcourt’s compositions evoke walls marked by generations of anonymous voices. Faces emerge through fields of colour; symbols hover between celebration and unrest. Crowns recur as signs of dignity and defiance, granting ordinary figures an unruly sovereignty. Throughout the work, the city becomes a shared surface on which visibility, power, and belonging are continually contested.

Artist Statement
“The crowd is at the heart of my work. I am drawn to the overlooked face, the makeshift crown, the words that remain after everything around them has changed. Text enters these images as it enters the street: urgent, imperfect, interrupted. Each composition holds traces of what came before, even where something appears to have been erased. A wall does not apologise. Neither should an image.”
Recurring language
Crowns stand for visibility rather than inherited status. Skulls and exposed ribs strip the figures back to a common human structure. Arrows, repeated words and crossed-out phrases create the rhythm of a city wall rewritten by many hands. At large scale, these motifs become an environment rather than a decoration.

The works are presented as museum-grade limited editions coordinated by Studio 54 Fine Art. Before acquisition, the collector receives written confirmation of the exact image, format, dimensions, edition number, surface or paper specification, framing option and price. Collector documentation identifies the title, year and edition supplied.
Contemporary studio process
Pierre Valcourt is a studio project name, not an individual artist. The works are created using AI image-generation tools, then selected, edited and prepared for archival pigment printing by Studio 54 Fine Art. Studio 54 Fine Art treats the production process as information a collector is entitled to understand.
Art-historical context
The project operates within the broad history of neo-expressionism and uses motifs found across that movement. The works are not originals by Jean-Michel Basquiat and are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
